Band Costume ideas

Aidan's Costume (guitarist)

  • In the band shots filmed in the studio I will wear jeans and a black T-Shirt.
  • The jeans will can have rips and a interesting belt.
  • The T-Shirt will have pictures and a design on it, it will not just be a plain-shirt.
  • For shoes I will wear preferably dark coloured canvas trainers.
  • I may have some string wrist bands .
  • I could also wear a hat to stand out and look unique such as beanie hat.

This is a picture of the style of wristband I would wear in the music video

These canvas shoes are the style that I would wear in the music video.

This is a picture of the beanie hat I might wear I might wear a slightly darker hat colour.

This picture is of the band Nickelback, the T-Shirts worn my this band have unique designs on them. This s the type of T-Shirt I will wear as the guitarist.

Daniel's Costume (Drummer)

  • In the performance shots I will wear black skinny jeans
  • I will also wear a dark t-shirt with some sort of design on it
  • I may wear a hat to stand out from other rock band videos
  • I will wear dark trainers to not try not to draw attention to them

For my top I would either wear my black Coma top or my brown Grunt top, which has faded words "home work sucks" with a peace symbol in front.

I will also wear black skinny jeans to keep with the conventions of rock bands, that wear predominantly dark clothes.

I don't have any black shoes so I will wear dark blue hi-top trainers, like the ones in the picture but darker.

With influences from Gothic rock, the lead singer will have an edgy and quite extreme look. She is meant to stand out and be slightly different to the others, while still fitting with their style and the song.

Shobnam Costume (Lead singer):

Tops/Dresses

As for tops or dresses, a corset style would be ideal as this connotes a gothic or rock feel, hence one of our influences.

Something such as one of the above would be ideal to make the lead singer (me) look rock, and we could also include colours such as bright reds, pinks or purple as a pop-punk influence. If we can't find a proper corset as above, we could compromise to a top that looks slightly like one (like the one below)

Bottoms/ Skirts

The bottoms or skirt would have to complement the top well, especially if there were colours. A black skirt (unless the top was entirely black too) would be best, but would need some redeeming feature, such as the ones below.

However if the top was entirely black, and did have stand out, then the skirt could be the eye-catching part of the costume, Checkered skirts are popular in the pop-punk genre as well, therefore we could combine a gothic top with the pop-punk skirt, similarly to how our band is a hybrid pop-punk rock band.

I have 2 dresses that I will try on for costume and these are detailed in a later post. Hair and make up will also be crucial, and while the costume is dark and has to complement each other, the hair and make up will most likely be extreme and stand out. These will also be detailed further in a other post.

Shoes

The shoes would again have to match the top. Colour-wise this would be important, however mostly in the video, shoes will not be visible. Ankle boots are common for pop-punk artists and studs for the rock genre, therefore we could combine the two to create the following:

And if colour was an issue, then simple black. On the other hand, if the costume colours did not match, and the entire thing was black, we could counter this with bright colourful make up and/or hair.
